I am a creative being and I use paint and canvas to produce images indicative or evocative of my own passions, reactions, and pleasures from personal observations and experiences with the intention that these messages reach those who need to hear them. Through the persistent study of light, shadow, hue, value, and texture, my work is executed in several different genres; landscape, figurative, still life, botanical, animals, and in a variety of mediums.
My current direction explores the representation of goddesses and/or historically chronicled women as metaphors for my personal journey through difficult times. Animal images are a natural extension of the figurative work represented as the inner avatars and represented as symbols, teachers of moral lessons, and companions in the Shamanic traditions. My work strives to uncover the tools needed for introspection, examining them, and questioning their attitudes, uncertainties, and rules of our society; whether recorded, spoken, or unspoken. I see these images as a reminder to never give up and to always strive for strength and empowerment.
Through these commanding and resilient sentient or immortal archetypes, I tell the story of intimate, personal, and profound experiences accompanied by their challenges, failures, growth, and ultimate triumph.
